present my Gold winning Warhammer 40k Unit Grey Knights. This
group of figures represents approximately 360 hours of work (3
months time to complete at an estimated average of 4 hrs a day).
Due to entry limitations for the Toadstool I have uploaded only a
pic of Brother Leoric.
You can see more pictures of the Entry here:

The few conversions to the figures are as follows:
Brother Captain Leoric's Banner Pole made from a Forge World Grey
Knight Land Raider Door carefully trimmed then the back was finished
and smoothed with green stuff, the clamps were also made with green
stuff. The Purity Seals on the back of the banner come from the
Forge World Demon Hunter Icon Pack.
Several arms were swapped between different Knights until I got the
look I wanted for each one.
Brother Alegar's Force Weapon was a simple conversion from the
Inquisitor's Daemon hammer.
Brother Aldred's Left Arm mechanical gun part was miscast and I did
not notice until I had almost finished painting the entire arm,
rather then try to strip and repair it or wait for a replacement
bit, I decided to scratch build a purity from green stuff to hide
the flaw. It worked perfectly other then the location is a bit odd
as it sits on the back section of the gun.
Thanks to the popularity of the Grey Knight figures I had lots of
different examples of high quality paint jobs to borrow ideas from.
Matt Verzani's Brother Justice and Andrew Lum's Grey Knights most
heavily influenced my painting of the overall scheme. Jason
Richard's Grandmaster Octavius gave me the idea for a Forge World
back banner conversion.
I tried to give my Knight's a brushed stainless steel look –
reflective but not mirror polished. I wanted the Gold to have a more
reflective appearance so I went with a SENMM look.
All of the script work was done either with a Black Micron pen or by
brush with GW chaos Black Paint.
The bases were pre-built out of plaster chunks just after I base
coated the Knights, as I needed a place for them to sit as I worked
on them indivdually.
