Winter Space Marine by Astonia

Winter Space Marine by Astonia

- Anja Wettergren (Astonia)
Description : For this marine I chose a cold, winter theme with a dirty white armour that has begun to rust and blue and turqouise detils.
The armour is worked up from kommando khaki via bleached bone to skull white. After that I added very thin washes of black before I used thinned vermin brown to paint the rust effect.
The nmm is done with VMC greman grey, neutral grey and white.
The base was a lot of fun to do. It's made from two pieces of plasticard pinned together with bits of a paper clip. The snow is a mix of sand and white glue. I wanted a dirty feel to the snow so I painted is with fortress grey, then I drybrushed it with bleached bone, VMC silver grey and skull white.

Enjoy! :)

Very nice job, Anja. I really like the weathering you've done on this one, both on the armor and the deck plates. The gems look really nice as well.

The base is cool! Nice colour choices too. The rust on the lower left leg on the rear view is particularly convincing..... solid job all around :)

I'm inpress not only because you painted a marine which I hate painting, but because you did it very very well. The realism is breathtaking. I'm not a big fan on NMM but you did a great job! The rust is the best part really makes this mini breathe. I like the base also!

Girl got some MAD SKILLZ! :)

Great weathering, adn the cold effect comes acrss well with this color scheme. The smoothness of the blue parts is impressive.

Anja; Wow, I saw this in the WIP thread on CMON, nice to see it finished. Excellent base, really like the rust effect on the base and the armor. Nice dirty colors on the armor, the whole thing just pulled together really well. Bang up job!

Nice, bright blues here. i like the weathering/rusting on the armor, although maybe it is a bit too much on the back of the model. Still, a very good job.

Snow does indeed look dirty. You have really done a nice job with the rust and dirt on the armor. The NMM metal on the guns and backpack come off as too grey. Otherwise the simple color pallete really looks nice on this figure.

Very nice, I like to see a dirty marine. Looks realistic. I would love to see a whole squad like this.

Very cool to see one of these that really looks like he's been through the wars, and then some. The weathering effects are fantastic. The vivid blues are a nice counterpoint that keeps the overall piece from seeming too dingey. Love the creative base!
