My first entry in the Golden Toadstools ever. I have been painting for 3 years and I think this is my best work so far. Thanks to everyone on MCMP for all the hints and tips.
This mini was a real pleasure to paint. I tried some new NMM recipes on this guy and found one I really liked. It is very much a greasy old iron look. To achieve this I started with a black base coat. Then I put on a layer of grey blue. This was heavily shaded with very thin layers of golden yellow, beiege brown, and black brown. Then I smoothed out with thin layers of grey blue and worked my way back up using thin layer of grey blue mixed with more and more white.
This is also the first time I have attempted freehand designs and trim on cloth. It turned out quite well. There wasn't too much room to work on the front but I carried on the the theme in the back as well. More detailed shots of the freehand can be seen in my painters gallery.
Hope you like him.

I think your metals turned out really nice. It is very smooth in appearance and I like the look of the rust. The reds in the gloves and cloth look like they need more attention. Right now they have a rubber look to them. Red freehand would probably benefit from a stronger darkline especially at the top. I like the rocky look to the base.

I also like the metals ... well done. I do find that the rest of the colours are so close in tone that they are fading into one anouther. Just a little more highlighting and diffintion between areas would wake a world of difference.

The metals look really nice, and I like the rest of the figure as well. I think the base might be missing a little something, but I'm not sure what.

Grass!!! I feel it could use a few grass patches or even better a mold trail! I really like it kinda like Brom! >:) I think that it's great the way it is, Yes you could use some highlights but I think the dark evil look is great! Good Job!!!

This is really nicely painted. I love the 'moody' colours of the armour and the corrosion is well painted. Great work!

Nice choice of colors. The rust/weathering of the metal is very well done.

Gotta agree that the rust effect on the armor is very well done. I like the overall color choices on this one as well. A great 'weathered' look to him.

I like how the armor came out. It is dark, but it has very good definition and the placement of the highlights works well to convey the sense of shape. The non-armor bits, though, seem to lack definition, since the highlights there don't seem to diverge too much from the mid tones.

Love the armor! -- Jack

Love the dark, dirty, brooding quality of this. Freehand looks good!
