Mikel the Vengeful

Mikel the Vengeful - kevin deming (primeval)
Description : This is a Grenadier Fantasy Warriors barbarian. I tried several new things here. For one, I endeavored to make every detail the best my current skills allow; as an example I normally overbrush and glaze for hair or fur but here I picked out each strand individually. The skin is done with Adikolor, and I am quite pleased with the result. The Adikolor has a LONG open time, but careful use of thin layers made for the smoothest skin I have pulled off thus far. Still need to make myself go higher with my NMM highlights, but I think I am slowly improving.

Ah, a barbarian. I guessed it was your work even before I read your name under it ;)
I think you have done a great job on the skin tones as well as the fur. Really nice!
The nmm needs to have more contrast, as you said, but the highlights are placed in the right places. I also think that the blood is a bit too red, I would have tried a darker and thinner red colour.
Overall a good job though. Keep it up!

The skin is really well done. I could easily see harsh highlights contrasting (badly) with the snow base, but you've got a great natural light look going instead. Great work!

Skintones look very good. The blood effects are pretty cool too. I agree about your NMM though...need brighter highlights, and darker shadows. Nice snow, too.

Kevin;
Nice look barbarian! The skin tones are perfect, truly one of you best efforts. I like the blood dripping from the severed head, but the blood "covering" the blade seems a bit much. You also might want to add some additional highlights to the edge of the exposed rock. The snow effects on the base are very nice. As has been said, the NMM needs more highlighting too. Good work, you just keep getting better!

I like this one! I'm a hugh Conan Fan and this mini looks great! A true Cimmerian or Nemedian! I understand how you feel about the NMM and I think you did a Great Job! A+++

Very good model. The gore effect is great, although a bit too bright on the sword, IMHO.

I like the skin work you have done on both the barbarian and the head. the NMM on the bracelets and sword does need some harsher contrasts.

The fur on his loincloth and boots really does stand out nicely. Skintone is good. Blood effects are rather flat and look too thick, blood on the snow is not believable. Stone and weapons could definitely benefit from highlights and shadow.

Nice work. Try using some red ink with your paint for the bloody blade.

I like the skin tone you've achieved here quite a bit! The skin on some of your previous barbarians has been well painted, but seemed a little 'cold' in tone, this works for me much better. I also really like the creepy eyes on the severed head, and the blood dripping down into the otherwise pristine snow on the base.
