'Where's the darn'd door

'Where's the darn'd door" by Beelzebrush
Description : As soon as I saw this mini by Hasslefree, I visualised this little diorama.

The NMM was a little odd to paint whilst trying to consider the lightsource I had to paint over it. The NMM colours were German Grey, Imperial Blue and Cold Grey. The lightsource colours were Scarlet, Light Orange, Deep Yellow and a little white. I used the same colours for the walls too. I like the effect of the shadow...it reminds me of Nosferatu.

The diorama was built entirely from layers of cork tile. The pavivg flags were individually cut out and 'layed'.

I really had fun doing this and on the whole am pleased with the outcome.

Wow! That's one of the greatest inprovements in painting I've ever seen an individual do! Great job with the light source ... is the shadow a little high given the position of the torch? YA .... you should be proud of this one!

This is really a great idea, I like it very much. I wonder if the torch itself would have a shadow in a real situation like this, but that is just the devil in me trying to find something... :)

Cheers guys!

There's definitely a bit of 'artistic license' involved with the shadow. I think if I'd positioned it right it would have been much smaller and towards the corner (plus I liked the Nosferatu thing :) )

Excellent realism, technical editing aside. This diorama has real feel to it. If a mouse so much as squeaked, he looks like he might shi* himself. This gets one of my three votes based on just plain coolness. Awesome work.

This is brilliant. I had never seen source lighting executed like this with shadows. It's quite remarkable really. Nice pick of a miniature. You did an excellent job setting the mood. I'm at a loss for words...
