What a beast! This is certainly the largest 'heroic' scale Orc I've ever seen. He came in 3 pieces (head, left arm, right fist/weapon), painted separately, and pinned into place. Nice sculpt with plenty of details - no need for any conversions.
Used a wide range of VMC, VGC, GW and craft paints - even threw in a watercolor burnt sienna for good measure. The skin was based in VMC Deep Green, shaded with Americana Black Green and highlighted with a combination of Americana Celery Green, Buttermilk and Antique White.
The gold bits were based with GW Bubonic Brown, and highlighted using VMC Goldbrown, Americana Antique Gold, Yellow Straw, and Buttermilk. The personal break-through came when I applied Winsor & Newton's Cotman Watercolor Burnt Sienna to shade the gold. The result reminded me of some of the French work I've seen. I liked the effect so much that I decided to use it on the weapon and chain mail to simulate rust.
The weapon and chain mail where handled differently than the other 'steel' parts: base - Americana French Grey Blue, highlight - VMC Pale Greyblue, Americana Winter Blue, Ice Blue, and VGC Ghost Grey. Applied the aforementioned Burnt Sienna for weathering. This combination gave me a color that was slightly different the helmet, spikes, and rivets - helping to create some color variation.
Even tried my hand at the ubiquitous 'reflecting glass container with red liquid' - with mixed success.
I kept the base very simple - this model is VERY top heavy and I didn't want to fiddle with balancing him on an angled surface. There was also a looming dead-line that limited my basing experimentation.
Comments/suggestions welcomed.
