Conan the Adventurer by Primeval

Conan the Adventurer by Primeval
Description : This is a Fenryll barbarian, painted to represent a young Conan as he first comes into "civilized" lands. While I like many Fenryll figures and the detail some have, I get somewhat frustrated by the number of casting issues I come across with them. This one had to have a huge chunk of resin filed/cut off between his right arm and right pectoral muscle, and then I had to resculpt the pec. Also, for some reason that sword hilt sticking up in the back was a seperate piece that was far too small to pin and had to just be glued (broke off once during painting, much swearing ensued...).
As for the painting, I am really pleased with the results I am getting with the Adikolor paint I am using for fleshtones. I tend to do a combination of layering and blending and they work perfect for me. I use Scortea as my base, add Scar Brown for several layers, and finally add in Flesh for several more, with the final highlights being a extremely dilute one. I was also pleased with the leathery look of his kilt, done with GW Scorched Brown as a base and then worked up with successive layers of more and more Reaper Oiled Leather. the hair is my usual black with GW Shadow Grey glazed over with a several layers of black.

I just read the first of the new Dark Horse Conan comics and your interpretation is a perfect fit for the imagery in the series :) My only criticism would be the darlining around the eyes - it looks a little heavy. Might be just the angle though.

You just made my day - I did him based on the Dark Horse Conan; the red cloak is based on the one he stole from a dead Hyperborean before escaping into the wilds, to emerge later in Nemedia. Thanks!
