Daemon prince by David Olorenshaw

Daemon prince by David Olorenshaw
Description : This is my first real attempt at painting a figure of this size. I am painting the Daemon for a friend, and so I have tried to put a little bit more effort into it than I would usually do! The figure is a mild conversion on the gw figure, with an attempt at showing a karate kick, and giving him a helmet. The colour scheme is (basicaly) my fiends, asnd is supposed to represent a space marine who has been corrupted and grown tov. large proportions. The painting was done completely in gw paints (I know no better, and would struggle to get any other types). using a layering process, with a little of slight wet blending. I am much impressed with some of the nmm effects that you guys produce, so this also represents my first go at that. I think a little more practice might come in useful. As I say, this is my first go with this level of detail/size so (constructive) comments would be much appreciated. Thanks

The paint is nice and crisp, in particular the blues. I especially like the right shoulder pad, very smooth. However, I am not sold on the pose - karate from a huge demon encased in armor just doesn't jibe IMO. Overall though, a definite quality piece.

Hey David the mini turned out great However I agree with Darthfoley, The pose is not doing anything for me. I mean why kick if you can chop. The color usage is A+

Love the paintjob and the color choice is perfect. Maybe a marine laying under his foot will give the pose more realism. Overall a great piece A+

I think that the blue and the bone are great. The blending is good and crisp. I would like to have seen more on his backpack thing. I agree with everyone else that the kicking pose isn't very convincing but a space marine or a tyranid warrior under the foot would improve it. The only problem with the painting is the helmet. I don't really like the colour and I don't know if it is ment to be metal or leather but appart from that it is great.

Great paint job ... but I'd have to agree on the pose. It looks like he is looking at his foot like ... "just what did I step in"? I like the space marine idea under his foot ... add some bloody entrails from his foot and the picture is complete!!
