The miniature Tamaor is from the Rackham Ork Trackers Box Set. The base was first constructed by using cork to create the appropriate pieces, and then green stuff was sculpted around the cork for the rock effects - less waste of green stuff that way.
The paints used were Reaper Master Series, Reaper Pro, Vallejo Model Color, Vallejo Game Color, and Liquitex tube acrylics. The body and head parts were painted separately and then pinned together. Likewise, the right arm holding the staff. The wings were painted on skewers for the initial parts, and then once attached to the miniature, the feathers and NMM was painted.
One of the factors that drew me to this miniature was the wings. The feathers allowed for so much color, it was hard to resist.
A lot of blending/scrubbing went into painting this. What I mean by scrubbing is just that, I keep my paints very thin and wet on the surface of the miniature and work the colors back and forth together. However, the feathers were mostly washes and Titanium white from Liquitex acrylics. For color richness, the Liquitex cannot be beaten, and thinned down properly, they work incredibly well for adding additional colors in small areas. |
