Lord Typhus v2 by Slorak

Lord Typhus v2 by Slorak
Description : This months entry is Lord Typhus V2. This is a commission piece that I just finished. He is V2 because I had previously painted him up before! ;) Overall I am very happy with how he turned out and a bit saddened as I feel he looks even better than my original!

Basing: He is based on 2 pieces of cork tile glued together with the edges covered in a medium course flocking gel. A single chunk is used for the nurgling. A bit of copper mesh was used for the fencing ruin. Rusted pipe is a bit of plastic tube. GW sand was used to fill in the gaps, a chunk of blue foam was used for variety, and a couple of strategically placed bits of sprue were used.

Painting: He was primed white, inked with watered down black and then his armor was basically the same as my plague marines. Of interest was the fleshy protrusions from his back. They were painted pale flesh and washed with a few variations of purple and flesh ink washes. straight purple ink was used to paint on subtle veins. Bandages were given a bloody look by dabbing on Tamiya Clear Red and smudging it with the edge of my finger.

Nurgling on base was based in pale flesh, washed with orange ink, re-highlighted up with pale flesh and ivory and then splotched with Tamiya clear red. this was blended in areas by adding ivory and off-white to the tamiya clear.

The rust effects on the fly emblem, boot hooves, and pipe were done with a 2 part product from Modern Options. You paint on a liquid mixture that contains iron flakes and then after it has dried brush on another fluid that accelerates the rusting. You end up with rust within an hour!

Overall he is about 10-12 hours of work. More pictures can be found on my website.

Cheers,

-Mike

Cool. The mossy-striations on the armour are quite effective. I think the little purple nurgling is my fav bit on the model. The base is distinctive too...
