There are really two main aspects of this model that still really jump out at me when I look at the pics (Hasslefree now have the actual mini) - the gems and his fleshtones. The fleshtones have been painted in 8+ different feathered layers starting with a mix of GW Tanned Flesh and Vallejo US Olive Drab, and highlighted with elf flesh and then ivory. This creates a smooth and natural-looking flesh tone. A mix of black and brown ink was used to create the stubble, and black brown and red ink mix was used for the blood. The gems were painted in a typical GW style, but have 10 different layers on them to create a really smooth finish. I also used more than one reflection in the gems. Once this was done I gloss varnished them to make them really pop. |
