The Dread Pirate Kjaran by Glyn

The Dread Pirate Kjaran by Glyn
Description : Here is Pirate Kjaran from Hasslefree Miniatures. This guy is some small and boasts tremendous details! Actually, he was a lot of fun to paint, though the sword was giving me some fits.
I started out with a Vallejo Cork Brown skintone, and mixed a bunch of Dwarf Flesh in. This was a nice base color for shading and highlights. After this, I went at the shirt and sleeves with Bone white and some Yellow Gold shading. The jacket is a Dark Prussian Blue, with a lot of black, hopefully, leather like. The front of his vest, belt and boot details are done using a Cadmium Maroon color, highlighted up with Light Flesh. The sleeves and pants are basically a Bestial Brown base color, and the wrist straps and collar have a bit of Snakebite Leather mixed in.
The shiny NMM is done with various degrees of London Grey, German Grey, Wolf Grey, White, Ice Blue and Scorched Brown.I painted all of the buttons, the codpiece, and boot details with only the greys, and decided on a very shiny sword. I put reflections of the ground and his clothing on his sword, and did the small gems in blues.
The gold NMM is Snakebite Leather, Golden Yellow and White.
One of my favorite bits is the lenses on his "Kill-O-Blaster" pistol. I painted them like optical gems, even the underside of the main lens... Fun :D
The base was built up greenstuff, with sand for the lichen and an underpainted craft glue pool ;)

Great work on a great mini :) Maybe a bit shiny and clean for a pirate, bujt then not every pirate has to be dirt crusted I guess ;)
the bright green of the base fits nicely and adds to the bright colors of the miniature.

Nice! I like the yellow shading on the white, that's an interesting idea and ties in well with the other colours used on the piece. The weapons look fantastic, also. Love the highlighting on the hair, I'm still struggling with that tight, realistic hair shine myself. I find the green on the base maybe a smidge too bright, it draws my eye away from the figure somewhat, although I like the base as a whole quite a bit.
