This is a Forgeworld resin Venerable Dreadnaught. In itself it was quite an interesting challenge. Working with resin you must clean the resin first (soap and water), remove the flashing/mold lines, clean again, and then start looking for the holes in the casting. Resin work is really more about clean-up and preparation prior to commencing painting than that of a metal miniature.
Once cleaned, I primed using Tamiya Fine Spray primer each part separately as the mini as a whole would not be easily painted as one mass. Most of the parts were on wire and cork to hold them while being painted. Once all parts were painted, then the final assembly to the cork base was accomplished.
The paints used were primarily Vallejo Game and Model Colors. I used more transition layers in this piece and kept the paint thinner than I normally do as I was going for the smoothest work that I could. In the greens alone (Sick Green was the base green color) there were 8 color layers.
Overall I was very satisfied in the scope of the project, and the final appearance. |
