 GT XXXIII (33) March 2005

Tariq, Dune Sergeant by Philip Esterle

Tariq, Dune Sergeant by Philip Esterle
Description : It's been a while since I've put anything up on the GTs, mostly because I haven't been painting much since World of Warcraft came out. :-p

This one has been sitting on my table for probably 6 months now, and I finally got around to painting it. It's a great sculpt for Reaper Warlord by Julie Guthrie.

After some success painting blue/teal fabric on a mini I painted for Kevin Clark, I thought I'd give it a go again, and I think it worked out fairly well again. I decided to go with a copper/gold NMM for the armour to complement the blue wrap.

Originally, I had painted the rest of the fabric a reddish brown color, but after painting the copper, I felt the fabric needed to be a different color, so I went with a sand color instead.

For the most part, I used Vallejo model color and game color on this one, although there is a little bit of the Reaper Pro Paint line here as well. Most of my painting of late has been done away from home, and the Reaper Master Paints haven't made it into my travel case yet. :-p Perhaps when the new paint caddies come out, I'll be able to migrate.

I really like your nmm work. Especially the copper and the sword look great :)
The skin looks a little to dark and would benefit greatly from another highlight or two imho.

Great colours on this! On the NMM work, I like the gold on the sword hilt particularly, also his helmet. Some of the transitions between the shade and highlight colours seem a little abrupt to my eye, particularly on the sand coloured clothes.
