GW Bugman Trooper
by OrcTrader
Description : GW Dwarf Ranger – Bugman Trooper.

As I was given a Black Tree design Dwarf – my last entry – I bought 3 of these to compliment it. Each will be different, but should look as if they “belong” together once complete.

So…

Primed black.

The flesh was VGC Dwarf flesh – CDA flesh wash – highlighted with the DF, then the DF mixed with CDA elven flesh, final highlight just the EF.

Beard and hair was VGC Parasite Brown, washed with CDA Chestnut Ink. Then highlighted with Parasite Brown and VGC Bald Moon Yellow, adding more yellow to the mix. Then further highlights yellow only, then yellow with GW Skull white added then, finally, SW only.

Metal. The silver was painted CDA gunmetal - thin so black showed through. Then another coat. Then CDA chainmail - thin, couple of coats. Washed with black ink from the haft end outwards to the edge of the blade. Some highlights with chainmail. Washed with chestnut ink, near the haft. From where the wash ended, highlighted with chainmail. Extreme edges, highlighted with mithral silver.
The gold. VGC Polished gold, washed with CDA chestnut ink, highlighted with the PG, then PG mixed with VGC Mithral Silver for highlights.

The surcoat was VGC Scab red, washed with black ink and highlighted with the base colour mixed with GW Skull white, progressive layers.

The shield was my first attempt at freehand. The anvil to tie in with the other dwarf, where it was cast into the shield. The angular B, so there is something to tie in the next dwarf. Used the PG for the gold, but applied thicker – my attempt at representing gold leaf. The green was CDA dark Elf green, washed with brown ink and highlighted with DEG mixed with skull white, as was the bolt quiver.

The base, small boulders and static grass, also has to tie in with the other Dwarfs, but I used less boulders and more grass.

I love the axe, it looks so dwarven. Nice job.

I second what Michael said about the axe. Great work on the subtle rust effect. I suggest some stronger highlights on the skin and a little less prominent blacklining on the shield. Uhm, what's CDA by the way?

Many thanks for your Comments.
Michael, CDA is Coat d' Arms. This is the paint that GW used to use. (Jenova mentions it in her Reviews, and if you do a search in the Forum it will pop up.)
I use them and VGC primarilly. The over-priced Citadel as little as possible.
