My entry for this month is a Grail Pilgrim by Games Workshop. I really like this sculpt, those Pilgrims are full of character imho.
For the painting I tried weathered NMM a lot. I experimented with different receipes. The goblet for example is painted with a Parasite Brown base, shaded with Scorched Earth and highlighted by adding Bleached Bone and a tiny bit of white. The other bronze areas were done with a base of red leather, shaded with Smoke and highlighted by adding Bleached Bone and Reaper's Linen White. For a patina effect I stipples on a mix of Turquoise and Emerald for the goblet, the other bronze parts were glazed with Turqoise, followed by Emerald green and Duck Egg Green (Vallejo Model Air). The steel parts were all done on a basecoat of Cold Grey and highlighted over Fortress Grey up to white. Weathering was done by using lots of glazes - Parasite Brown, Beasty Brown, Dark Flesh, Mahagony, Turqoise, Rust - you get the idea ;)
Another part I am quite happy with is the light cloth on the shield. I started with a base of 50/50 Bleached Bone/Fortress Grey and highlighted up to white. Then it was again time for glazes. Here I used Camo Green, Scab Red and Graveyard Earth.
The skin color was another experiment. I mixed a lot of Smoke with a bit Cold Grey and added Fortress Grey and Linen White for the highlights.
Overall I am quite happy with the result :) |
