Ysis Composite

Ysis Composite
Description : This model is a bit of an experiment for me. I had 3 goals in mind: 1.directional shading, 2. Try NMM for the first time, and 3. experiment with various shades of white.

The white I think turned out rather well. The armored bits of the legs and arm are mostly the newer GW khaki colors. The helmet armor and thigh-plates are codex grey highlighted up with bleached bone. On the body, I tried several different base colors for bleached bone. On the front of the model I started with bubonic brown, but on the back I started with codex grey. Both were highlighted by adding more and more bleached bone to my mix, and them by adding white. The brown on the arms is bestial brown highlighted with bleached bone.

This model was my first attempt at NMM, and while I struggled with the direction of the highlights, I think I managed to make it look convincing. It still seems a little dark in parts, like on the crossbow, so let me know what you think I could do to improve it.

The only part I don't like on the model is the blade- the green highlights turned out waaay too subtle, and I might go back and change them

The directional shading was done very easily by glazing thin layers of jade green over the white around the eyes and rib-tubes.

Your directional lighting and the NMM look good to me - well done :)
Interesting experiment with the different shades of white. Thanks for the great reference mini.

I think the red splotches (blood stains?) could use some more work. They look somewhat out of place to me

I agree with Gunji, the differant shades of white make for an interesting experament but i think the blood stains look out of place. Your NMM and directional light is better then i could ever do, good job. ^_^
