Viktoria, Swordgirl by EricJ

Viktoria, Swordgirl by EricJ
Description : A wonderful sculpt by Edgar Ramos for Wyrd Games. I had the pleasure of painting this mini as soon as she was cast. My first take on this miniature was that it definately had hints of the gritty modern comic look/manga feel which I wanted to enhance in the painting.

The first thing I decided was to use a very limited color palate, and the use only muted colors when I did use them to enhance the feeling of a dark atmosphere for her. In fact I've only used 4 colors on this mini, GW skull white, chaos black, shadow grey and dark flesh. The skin is a combination of all 4 colors, where anything bluish is based off shadow grey and anything redish got that hue from the dark flesh. (there is some blood red on the base however). I decided to go with high contrast nmm for the swords, again to enhance the feeling of her walking through a very dark environment, only catching the light from a single light source. Finally I chose white hair as it seemed the most fitting of the "manga" hair colors for this one, as I definately wanted to stay away from adding color there.

The base is all freehand, just to try to set the scene a little bit more of her walking away from a violent scene on a dark street.

I hope you like her, she was a bit of an experiment in style for me in a number of ways!

Love the expression of the face. NMM looks great. Just an all around beautiful piece of work again.

Howdy - well a bit of a fanboy here, but I do always appreciate your work. Just amazing use of color to set the mood. Is there a copy of it around without the black background, just curious. peace

Excellent job as usual. Anywhere we can see the back view and with a more neutral background. This is very reminiscent of Fredy's work. Nice.
