Griffin Inquisitor by flynn

Griffin Inquisitor by flynn
Description : After taking a break from painting for a few months, I finally got inspired to paint something again. This is the first Griffin Inquisitor from the Rackham Confrontation line.

I started off painting along with the painting guide in the first Cry Havoc book, but then began to make some variations in the colors they used. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the way this turned out.

This mini was painted almost exclusively using the Reaper Master Series paints, with the exception of a little bit of Vallejo Smoke (which is just too versatile a color to give up right now). The base is a resin cast from Epicast.

Thanks to Darin and Kevin for giving me some feedback while this was still in progress. I'm sure they'd like me to go back and add a bit more in the freehand department.

Flynn, the cloth looks really soft and the highlight on the edge of it looks too bright. The NMM looks awesome, especially the sword blade. All of the armor looks really well done. Nice feel to the helmet to.

Flynn, wow! Your silence has paid dividends! Everything looks pretty sweet, and I like the subdued colors... reminds me of Anne's style. Only nitpicks are the two curved "horns" on the hilt of the sword and the large highlight near the bottom of his cloak (not the gold trim mind you) seems a bit rough.

Great stuff. If I was still doign the Fungal Growth, you would take it :)

Wonderful metals, the way they seem to gleam softly but not shine gets across a worn, aged look. I really like the overall subdued, somber feeling of the piece.
