High Elf Lord by darthfoley

High Elf Lord by darthfoley
Description : My entry to Golden Demon Atlanta 2006 in the Warhammer Fantasy Single category. Made first cut, but did not place. Probably my most 'technically' sound piece to date. Painted with Vallejo/Reaper Master Series paints. Used a new recipe for the gold NMM on the belt, Master Series 'Ochre Gold' triad, which came out well. Overall I am very happy with the piece, and looking forward to 'getting back into the swing of things' again.

I love the axe head on this model. I think you could use more contrast on the metallic armour, darken some areas, take the highlights right up with some titanium white.

Other than this a good job.

Beautiful job on the blending on the cloaks. Also the freehand lines and the shield are excellent. The only drawbacks are the leg armor and the base. Still, this is a beautiful piece.

Its a lovely miniature, how did you do the animal skin on the back? But, have I misunderstood the rules, don't entries have to be completed in the month of entry?

The fur is many layers, starting with Vallejo Gold Brown, washed with Reaper Brown Liner, and layered up through Reaper Golden Blonde.

And this figure was completed on March 14, 2006.
