This was one of my entries for Games Day Baltimore. It made first cut, but sadly didn't place. Vallejo paints were used with more thinning than usual. The base is as it looks, a small flowerpot that was first mostly stuffed with styrofoam and then a thin layer of green stuff to seal it and give texture. I continued down with putty to make the base for the four models. Sand was then added and primed black. Drybrushing with Charred Brown, Cobra Leather and then Bleached Bone completed the painting and static grass was finally added. The barn door was first a cardboard circle and then balsa wood doors with balsa trim and the hinges were made with heavy paper and then painted to look like hinges. I was very happy with the Tromp Loeill ( sp) effect of the nails. This was actually very fun to paint, especially since Farmer Maggot was one of my favorite characters from the Shire. ( I can't believe that I didn't manage to put any mushrooms in this diorama ) Please feel free to comment.

I think it's a great piece. The flower pot barn is a nice touch. Some parts still seem a bit rough/rushed, but overall it's a nice presentation.

Very cool scene, I really like the overall look of this! I like the variety of the dogs, and the farmer's face is very nice, and I agree, great job on the nails! I do plan to attend GenCon this year, do you?

Oh, I like the placement of highlights on the scythe, and the rust looks great, just looks like you need to smooth out the layers a little. (And I know that's not as easy as it sounds.)
