Yh-Ibenseth Mid-Nor by Isaak

Yh-Ibenseth Mid-Nor by Isaak
Description : I love painting the Mid-Nor dwarves because you can really go crazy on the color shemes. This minitature in particular has the 2 toned sword with some freehand on it and the crazy pink and purple tentacles anmd skin bits. I basically followed the Rackham style painting tutorials that can be found in Cry Havoc to paint this fig. I painted all the base coats first then added shading and highlights. Disciplining myself in this way seems to have improved my painting quite a bit from previous attempts.

I love the purple on this figure, what colours did you use?

Purple Recipe:

Base coat: VGC Squid Pink
Shading: VGC Hexed Lichen ( THIN WASHED LAYERS )
Smooth with: Squid Pink
Highlight up to: VMC Light Flesh

Light flesh is a great color to have. I also use it as the highest highlight on the pale green skin.

Out of interest, is Cry Havoc worth getting? Is it in English or French?

It is in english and french. Originally it was very expensive and had a lot of gaming fluff but as with all Rackham stuff was put together beautifully. There were some good painting articles and info on sculpting terrain in the early mags that I found helpfull.
More recently they have switched to a new format that is about half the price and they seem to be putting in more painting aids.

Very nice job on the NMM, and the purple. IMHO, the painting articles in CH are especially helpful for intermediate to advanced painters. Start with issue 9 and see what you think.

Nice job! The contrast of the pinky purple with the slatey armour works really nicely. The rusty weathering on the weapons is also very well done. He looks great overall.
