"Toe to Toe" - Dwarven Swiftaxe vs Skelton Breakers
Description
:
This scene is composed of Reaper Warlord minis, the Dwarf is a Swiftaxe and the skeletons are Necropolis Breakers. There were originally going to be two skeletons attacking, but one snapped in half at the spine and could not be repaired so he got added to the base as the dwarf's first kill.
The base is a GW 40mm square with layers of cork and ballast. The leaves are H&A litter.
The minis are done in metallics (Reaper and Vallejo, the silvers are shaded with Tamaya Smoke, and highlighted with Vallejo Metallic medium. The skeleton's blades were "rusted" with Vallejo smoke and GW brown ink.
Skeletons were painted with Reaper Bleached Bone, washed with Brown Ink, then highlighted back up with BB and GW Skull white.

The paintjobs look good. I think the photography looks too harshly lit. Maybe a home made light diffuser would help.

Nice scene! I think the breakage of the one skeleton was a happy accident, I like that the dwarf has already vanquished one of them. Great shine on his armour, too, and nicely contrasted with the grimy skeleton weapons.

Overall a nice little diorama, I think the skeleton in pieces on the floor has a better effect than it would if it hadn't of broken in two. I think maybe a little more work on the base would have benefitted this though as apart from a few scattered autumn leaves it has a stark sork of unfinished appearance and is too dark to me in a lot of arrears. Nice work Scott.
