A Vostroyan Commander, this is done for the UK GD get together Vostroyan Army, a long time since I last entered a GT due to work. I think I have improved a bit since last time, when I first entered many moons ago Angela challenged me to try some NMM because she liked my blending well after all this time and many attempts I think I might have finally got there. The figure was painted with a combination of VJ and GW paints using mainly VJ for the NMM Steel, colours used for steel VMC 992, 990, 989, 993 and 951 because I wanted a bright polished steel and for the gold I used snakebite, sulpher desert yellow (an old GW colour) and bone and a bit of white for the final highlights. I usually struggle with reds as well as NMM but I think the reds have come out well on this, having used a mix of scorched brown, scab re and black as a base coat so that it goes on as a fresh liver colour and then into this mix add blood red and highlight up to a blood red/orange mix. Two other (side views) are added to the Wargriffon folder of the GT Gallery should you be interested. I was going to enter him last month but missed the dead line as he didn't get finished until the 27th.

This looks great. I wonder where he got the wand of Orcus.

Martyn, very, very nicely painted mini. Love the red of the coat and the feehand on the inside is lovely. beautifully painted piece overall. There something about the NMM steel though, not enough contrast maybe..can't quite put my finger on it. Just love this one! Cheers, Grumb

I like the depth in the reds a lot, nicely painted! The overall colour scheme really works for me too. This guy has a lot of details on him, and the crisp painting helps each be visible individually. Good job!
