Brother Zarepheth
Description : This was new for me in a number of ways. It was my first time working with GW plastics and only my second attempt at a space marine. I wanted something more dynamic than the regular SM pose, so I experimented and made about 8 pairs of legs, chopped up into multiple pieces, repositioned, pinned and re-sculpted. I'd always loved the round mace head so I bought two of them and chopped it up to make this weapon. The colors came about mostly by mistake. I was just mixing them up randomly until I came up with one I liked. This particular combination is a dark blue mixed with a black green. The gold is also a bit more brown than I usually do, a bit of an experiment. Anyway, it all worked out, this won gold for me in the 40k single category at Baltimore a couple of weeks ago. There are more pictures at my (still under construction) new site www.crookedeye.net. Any comments are appreciated.

I like the choice of colours and the base, the way the mini balances on the girder, really lifts an already exceptional piece.

Wonderful painting Zach. My only complaint would be the impossibly twisted waist line. Of course that may just be how a spacemarine body works, I couldn't say. Congrats on the win.

Congratulations, the paintjob is wonderful. The only complaint is the pose: the waist is unnaturally twisted...

Howdy - Very well executed. There are many ways to explain the pose, so it does not bother me at all. For some reason the checkerboards stick out as a nice touch. Maybe because it contrasts so well. peace

To quote the painter himself, Insane! The blending on the leg and the eagles is flawless. You should have used a frontal view to show off the face which can be tough even for some of the masters here.
Superb work.

great blending, nmm, freehand scratches and dynamic pose (but a little bit overworked IMHO). Even though I`m not too happy about color of the armour, it goes along well with the warm gold tones. Excellent model!

Love the blending on this piece, and the weapon conversion superb.
But as has been pointed out, the pose is very unnatural.
