Centaur philly by Lavron Yor

Centaur philly by Lavron Yor
Description : This piece was done in post Games Day painter rebellion mode. Something light and simple and certainly some things that I need practice on.
She has sat around forever and having been basecoated before the before pix for CCV were due, she could not qualify. So with a head start, I finished her this month. I started with a base coat of Vallejo Game Color Parasite Brown and looking too red, redid it with a mix of Bestial and Parasite Brown. I was happy with the slight blending on the horse hide. The flesh started with Dwarf flesh and then having read the Darkson Design book and AlexiZ's article, added a wash of Dwarf flesh with some Scorched Brown. Then added just Dwarf flesh, then Dwarf flesh mixed with some Elf flesh and then just Elf flesh. I redid the eyes a couple of times trying to get the hang of unloading a brush that is too full. As the first article in the Darkson book suggests, I used a damp paper towel and touched the edge of the loaded brush before touching the eye. Finally, I did the hair with Scorched Brown over a Black base. The nips and the lips were done with Scab Red and a little Elf flesh. I drybrushed the base and flocked it and called it a night. Oh, I forgot the metal, it was more much needed practice on NMM and was Cool Grey and Black and then Cool Grey and then Cool Grey and White. Thanks, and feel free to comment.

Note to lurkers, enter something, anything. Cheers.

Very nice. I like the smoothness of the "horse" bit.

Cool figure, who makes it? I like the face and eyes, and the metal areas have a nice shiny look to them.

I really like the smooth clean finish of this model and am equally pleased to hear AND see that someone is finding the DD book a useful resource - makes me more comfortable ordering one for myself.

Wren, I think it was an old Grenadier set. I may do the palomino next month. I am going to Origins tomorrow, so I may find something there. Thanks for the comments.

Howdy

I like it. Took me a minute to appreciate the blending on the horse. Mayhap, as a lurker, I'll take up you challenge and post one next go around... maybe - lol. (oh and here is a second vote of usefulness on the DD book.) peace
