This miniature was surprisingly fun to paint. I'm not a huge fan of 40k miniatures, but I have to say they are growing on me at an alarming rate. ;)
Before painting Kharn I started by giving him a quick black glaze so I wouldn't need to do much blacklining. The armour was based in Scab Red mixed with a little black to make a really dark red. I then highlighted with Scab Red, followed by Bloody Red then a mix of Bloody Red and a wee bit of yellow.
The gold trimming was gold darkened with a little tinny bits (or whatever that vgc dk brown metal colour is), then it was highlighted with gold, then gold with a bit of silver thrown in the mix.
The skulls were done in my usual fashion, a base of Khaki, a glaze of brown+black ink, then a highlight of Bleached bone.
Im pretty happy with the reds on this one, reds are a real pain to varnish and photograph so im stoked that you can still see most of the highlights :)
Hope you like him. |
