Wolf the Barbarian (by Avicenna)

Wolf the Barbarian (by Avicenna)
Description : Wolf was the culmination of a recent practice in flesh tones, NMM and also freehand.

This was really an experiment at putting together a number of techniques all on one model to see how it turns out. And I am really very pleased with him!

His base was made from an interesting piece of slate and a number of chunks of cork to give the effect of rocks spilling off of the base and onto the plinth. I also used some brass-etched ferns to finish of the look of the base. I see the helmet and shield on the base as harking back to the martial influences on the warrior as he goes through a kata on a sacred rock in the middle of a woodland clearing.

Everything is put together so well. And the flesh is superb. The shield and the sword, magnificent.

Wonderful! The skin tones are fantastic, and I love the shield and helmet on the base. Love pretty much everything, really. :->

Wonderfully smooth skin tones. I love the artwork on the shield...reminds me of Hiroshige's famous Japanese print.

This is a wonderful piece - though id really like to see more commentary on your palette and or these techniques you have eluded to.

Howdy - Quite nice! With the definition of the skin (so well done) I was sorta looking for more on the hair. Anyhoo (just a thought - since I can not match it - take it with a grain of salt, hahaah) The leather work is extremely well done as well. peace
