Description : My first GT entry and I really wanted to concentrate on producing a good Flesh colour and on improving my layering technique which I used on the flesh and blue armour.

I would really appreciate any comments/criticisms as I really want to improve my painting.

The figure was painted using the following Vallejo paints:

Flesh - basecoat = Light Brown (929) Shaded with Orange Brown (981) and then lined with SS Camo Black Brown (822) higlights were done by adding Basic Skintone (815) to Light Brown and layering up. Finally a drop of Ivory (918) was added for the final highlights.

Hair - basecoat = Mahogany Brown (846) and highlighted by adding Light Brown (929) until final highlights with pure Light Brown.

Blue Armour - basecoat = Intense Blue (925) shaded with Dark Prusian Blue (899)and then highlighted with Flat Blue (962), Medium Blue (963) and finally Andrea Blue (841).

Leather - Flat Brown (984) highlighted by repeatedly adding Ochre Brown (856).

Fur - Chocolate Brown (872) higlighted with Flat Earth (983), Beige Brown (875) and finally Brown Sand (876).

Metal - Coat D'Arms Chainmail highlighted by adding Coat D'Arms Enchanted Silver until final higlights with pure Enchanted Silver.

Bronze - basecoated with VGC Tinny Tin (60) shaded with thinned FW Burnt Umber highlighted with Tinny Tin and then by adding Brassy Brass, pure Brassy Brass was used for final highlights.

IMHO, you need more contrast. A dark wash on the boots and the hair with some light drybrushing maybe ivory on the boots and some raw sienna on the hair. Also the lower buttocks are almost as bright as the upper. I would also add some grass flock. Nice job on the blues.

BTW, Welcome to the big leagues. The more the merrier.

Nice work on the skintones. A little darklining could help with the contrast Michael mentioned.

Howdy - pretty good. My only comment might be to make the loin cloth and boots different colors next time. -peace
