Old-style Blood Axe Space Ork by Kukn

Old-style Blood Axe Space Ork by Kukn
Description : This is my first GT entry and my first paintjob after about half a year. It's one of a ten-model squad. The main part was

remodelling them from old standard issue Goff Orcs from the Wh40k 2nd edition box. For some reason I did not clear off the

mold lines (wish I had). Anyway, I would be glad if you could profer some painting advice for instance, how to paint

bracers, shoulderpads and suchlike. I'm quite happy with how the metal worked out, a cheap but effective method. Now for

the details:

Head - cleaned of helmet
R. arm - replaced bolt-pistol with boltgun (removed Imperial Eagle)
L. arm - repositioned, cut of hand with axe, applied helmet spike by melting plastic with toluen, bandage from a long

strip of paper, toluened onto stump

Skin - base: Goblin Green, shade: Green Wash, highlight: watered Bronze Flesh, 2nd highlight: Scorpion Green
Metal - base: Chaos Black, drybrush: watered Boltgun Metal, highlight: Mithril Silver
Purple - base: Lich Purple, shade: Chaos Black, highlight: Lich Purple, 2nd highlight: Lich + Skull White
Blue - base: Enchanted Blue, shade: Blue Wash, highlight: Ultramarines blue, 2nd highlight: Ultra + Skull White
Bandage - paper soked in toluen-melted plastic, Green Wash
Skull - base: Bleached Bone, shade: Chaos Black, highlight: Bleached bone, 2nd highlight: Skull White

Poll results:
Number 10 overall.

Welcome, I think the colors seem a bit too bright for an ork. You seem to have all the shades and highlights in place, but I think you need to practice some brush control. The mithril silver for instance should be used very sparingly. Nice conversion work.

I am glad to see people approach old minis with new enthusiasm. As a constructive point, you may wish to develop more mid tones in order to smooth out your highlights.

I agree with the previous posts- good to see people getting (back) into the hobby. And some midtones would smooth things out quite a bit.

Howdy - So, on the straps, what is going on? It looks like cloth on one side and metal on the other, or is it just my old eyes? lol. Regardless - solid effort. Get those midtones and you'll progress fast - peace
