Queen of the Clones
By Zach L

Queen of the Clones
By Zach L
Description : This is my converted Queen of the Clones. She was based off of Virae, Queen of the Fiannas, but I filed off all of the detail on that figure except for the kneepad. The lower part of the arms are from Sin Assyris and the back blades are from a skorize warrior. I sculpted the armor on both legs, the chest and back armor, the shoulder plates, the decorations on her stomach, the vials on the back blades, and all the detail on her head and neck except for the topknot. The base is sculpted out of Aves apoxie sculpt. Then came the painting. :) It's a muted palette of greys (darker for the armor and bluish for the steel bits) and golds, with a bluish/purplish tint for the skin. I was lucky enough to take 3rd in the single fig category at GenCon '05.

Stunning. Absolutely amazing. I am floored. A really beautiful piece of work -- sculpting and painting. Wow.

This would be a beautiful piece if it were unconverted, but having seen the greens, it truely is amazing. The full moon still leaves me speechless. ;-)
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring....Seriously, a beautiful conversion.

Wow, she is a beauty. The conversion work is awesome, but even that takes a back seat to the painting. Fantastic.

Just a note, I have added a lot more angles on my site, www.crookedeye.net.

And thanks for the comments so far!

Stunning. I can't believe this piece started out as Virae as the conversion is superb. I really like the use of colours and the overall painting is amazing.

The painting is exellent, especially the way that you have trapped the light in the swords. Truly superb.

Howdy - I have to say the metal work is my favorite as well. Superior work! -peace

A lovely piece of work. However, the photo seems small relative to some of the other top entries this month. I went to your site to try and see some bigger pics, but I couldn't find any. There are several details on the figure that my old eyes just can't make out.

Very cool conversion. The painting on the swords is fantastic! I like the contrast between the warm colours on the base and the cool metals and skin tones on the fig. The fold tops on the loincloth could maybe benefit from another highlight or two. Congrats on your standing at GenCon!

I would personally like to see an extended commentary on the colours used etc..... :)

James, thanks for the kind words. I just typed in a whole list of the colors and it erased my comment for being too long. Yikes! I'll try and get something posted on the site or PM me and I'll send it on.
