Bal-torg the Elder by Keith (parvusmachina) Koene

Bal-torg the Elder by Keith (parvusmachina) Koene
Description : Ok. Finally figured out how to get into the description area. Write up: The metallics are done using your basic drybrushing technique. Base with black, drybrush with gunmetal move up to something really bright like Mithril Silver. Then I use inks and salt. First I applied a heavy layer of green ink and sprinkled salt on it. Let it dry over night and brush the salt crystals off. Then I applied a watered down mix of brown and black inks. Let it dry, then again with the green ink and salt. For the golds I paint the whole area with bronze, highlight with gold and wash with chestnut ink. The hair is not as "soft" or "thick" looking, I may have rushed that part. =) It is on a standard base with static grass.

GRRR...last comment was too long. Standard layering for colors, blade done with ink and salt, paint on ink, sprinkle salt, dry, brush salt off = cool affect.

Keith, as I told Jason, the writeup goes in that little description section. Write it on wordpad and then copy it to that little space.

Keith, very nice job on the details. IMHO, it needs better highlights. Brighter white on the topknot and lighter flesh on his nose and forehead. The light tan on the underside of his glove should not equal the light tan on the top. Still, nice job.

The skin on this model is really ccol. Also the salt technique is one I have been meaning to try myself and this all the motivation i needed. Very nice. Constructive Crit- for the hair only as it doesnt read as soft. More tones may really help this.

I like the skintone and nice work on the details.

Howdy - I would like to jump on the 'cool skintone' bandwagon myself. Can't decide if I like the salt effect, do you have other pics, to help me decide? lol. Anyhoo, lots of nice colors and details on this one. -peace

This sculpt seems to have a lot of detail for a mini its size, and your use of colour and shading has really helped keep all the details distinct. I appreciate the write-up on the metals, too.
